... was obtained using an optical detection and tracking system, designed specifically to image meteors in high resolution. This is the first meteor it has tracked - or it's "proof of concept" meteor. The meteor was possibly as bright as magnitude 2 or so. The meteor was detected and tracked for 0.62 seconds. The frames in the animation are of the chase and the meteor terminating. - The instrument was developed in part with the collaboration of Dr. Peter Jenniskens of the SETI Institute at NASA Ames Research Center and Peter Gural of SAIC.
